On the Beginning of the New Church Year

From the Parish PriestFr. Romey Rosco

The beginning of the ecclesiastical year is an opportunity for each of us to think about the place of worship in our lives.

Today, September 1st, marks the beginning of the cycle of worship (feast days, fasting periods, etc.) as we relive not only the great events in the life of Christ and the Blessed Mother, but also our own response, our rededication to the One Who saves us by His gracious deeds.  In these celebrations throughout the year, the Kingdom of God is proclaimed and revealed to us, and we are invited to draw near and share in the experiences of Christ’s birth, baptism, presentation in the temple, transfiguration, entrance into Jerusalem, crucifixion, resurrection and ascension… but also in His precious Body and Blood.  We become one with Him in His life and substance!

What a joy that we have begun yet another ecclesiastical year!  Live it in good health and joy in the Lord!
