Don’t Let Yourself “Slump”

From the Parish PriestFr. Romey Rosco

If it were not for the generous support of regular attendees, many of our churches could not survive the summer “slump” financially.  Orthodox Christians still have not adopted a more serious approach to supporting their church; we still must rely on your generous occasional donation, rather than a systematic form of stewardship.

And, unfortunately, many people believe that the church is something they can “put on” and “put off” like a coat or a hat.  We forget that when we were baptized and “put on Christ” He stays on forever.  He deserves (and expects) to be worshipped during all four seasons.

So, don’t let the summer slump get you.  Don’t let it prevent you from regular communion and fellowship with the Lord. If you’re going on vacation, look for the Orthodox Church near you.  And when you return home, return to your church.

Remember how much your participation and support is needed.
