Risk of Dying?

From the Parish PriestFr. Romey Rosco

I remember once reading a newspaper article that had the unusual title: “How to Take the Risk out of Dyeing.”  Actually, the article was written by a beauty expert who was writing about dyeing hair.  Her point was that to be safe, you should dye a few strands first, to see how it will take, so that you don’t end up with the wrong color all over your head.

The article itself, of course, didn’t interest me.  But that title made me think about something more important than hair color.

In fact, the risk was taken out of “dying” a long time ago.  Jesus took the risk out of dying when He died on the Cross for our sins and then rose again.  He defeated death, and that’s why He is our Lord and Savior!

Death is not an end to life.  It is the means by which we exchange the material for the spiritual, the temporal for the eternal, limited living making way for the fullness of life!
